Transition - 5 Days
Exploring aging and beyond
Approaching the last part of our lives means encountering unique challenges – just as we did when we were children, adolescents or young adults. As we become old, we may have more time to ourselves, but is there anything meaningful to do? We may lose physical mobility, hearing and eyesight may diminish, and suddenly our memory may be less reliable. This physical decline, plus the death of old friends or a beloved partner means our immediate world contracts – how to deal with all this?Released from old roles, relationships and responsibilities, who are we? And, in all of this change, can we find anything lasting?
“Childhood was beautiful; youth has its own flowers; old age has its own peaks of consciousness. But the trouble is that childhood comes on its own; for old age you have to be very creative.” Osho
Resources for aging creatively
This course provides a variety of resources, inner and outer, to support us in embracing this potent time of maturation. We will explore ways to view – as a passing drama – a past that now feels increasingly irrelevant, and a future that leads inevitably to death. We will use this time in remembering and cherishing our unchanging reality as consciousness. In other words we will learn to use this time creatively, as Osho suggests.
Along with Osho’s insights, a selection of meditative techniques will remind us of our innate freedom, of our reality as infinite expansion, untouched by the constrictions of the body and the mind. We will touch base with our unchanging, inner center and know the undying within us.
Meditation and self-nurturance
Through meditation we will connect with a sense of tenderness and gratitude towards our increasingly vulnerable bodies. In addition, we will practice gentle movements to keep awareness present and the bodymind flexible on all levels.WHY ATTEND THIS COURSE?
A great advantage of exploring our aging in the context of a group is the benefit of sharing with like-minded others – those with similar questions, suggestions and experiences. We can sidestep all the stereotypes and ageist attitudes, and be affirmed in our determination to continue to grow.
Explore and embrace the unique opportunities of this stage of life!
