Visas

A visa is required for India. You can check out the arrangements for obtaining a visa in your country on your local Indian consulate or embassy website here...
You can also go to the official Gov Visa Online Portal.

You can only visit OSHO International Meditation Resort while your Indian visa is valid.

India has introduced an e-Tourist Visa (eTV) scheme for the nationals from eligible countries in 2014, which used to be valid for up to 60 days.

Since September 2019 you can apply for e-Tourist Visa for 30 days, 1 year or 5 years.
You can read the details on the Indian Government websitehere

The eTV allows visitors from the eligible countries to apply online no less than four days and no more than 120 days before the date of travel.

Please note: Depending on the length of your e-visa the validity starts from the date of the grant of Estimated Time of Arrival / ETA. But the time allowed to stay in India on any one visit using the tourist e-visa shall not exceed 90 days per visit for most nationals who qualify for Indian e-Visa. An exception is currently available for for tourists from Japan, Canada, UK or the US. For tourists from these countries, the maximum continuous stay allowed is 180 days. Check carefully how long you are allowed to on one visit. It is not the same as the length of the visa.

For detailed information and to apply for an e-Tourist Visa click here.

The usual tourist visa allows a stay of up to six months per visit. It is good to check whether the six months starts from the date of issue or the date of arrival in India. Note that tourist visas are not legally extendable in India. At one point recently, there were limitations put on some visas, for example, if you were intending to leave India for a third country and return within a two-month period, there were restrictions. Just make sure you understand any such limitations on your visa before you travel.

And always good to check online at your local Indian Embassy or Consulate.

Inoculations / Immunizations

To find out what inoculations you may need, you can check here.

Most health authorities recommend that you have your regular inoculations against polio, typhoid, and tetanus up to date. Many people do not have other inoculations and simply take care to eat healthily. You should consider malaria protection if you plan to spend time in Mumbai, for example, but most people staying in Pune simply rely on mosquito repellants.

Flight Information

Prices and availability of tickets to India vary considerably throughout the year. It is good to consult your online sources or your travel agent well in advance. The busy times begin after the monsoon in September, reach a peak at the end of the year, and continue till the hot season starts around April/May.

There are two airports serving Pune – one is in Mumbai and one is in Pune itself.

Mumbai Airport:

Mumbai Airport is one of India’s major international airports. It has two terminals, terminal 1 or the Domestic Terminal  and terminal 2 or the International Terminal. They are a 5 km road journey apart from each other, and Terminal 2 takes all the international flights, and some domestic flights.

Arriving in Mumbai:

If you arrive in Mumbai, you have three options for reaching to the OSHO International Meditation Resort (OIMR) in Pune:

  • By Taxi (most recommended)
  • By Air
  • By Train

Pune Airport:

While most flights are into Mumbai, some international flights arrive directly at the international airport in Pune, which is about a 10 to 15 minute cab ride to the Osho International Meditation Resort.

There is currently one direct flight to Pune from Dubai, and indirect flights from many other international airports in India: Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai (Madras), Kolkata (Calcutta), Bengaluru (Bangalore) Hyderabad, Goa….

Entry procedures are simple and quick and you avoid the car journey out of Mumbai to Pune.

Arriving at the Pune Airport:

From the Pune Airport a pre-paid taxi (which you book and pay for at the cabin inside the airport on arrival) or a pre-paid rickshaw (which you book and pay for at the cabin outside the airport on arrival) can take you to the area of the OSHO International Meditation Resort, approximately 8 km away, for about 200-300 INR. When you pay, they will give you a receipt with the driver’s name on it.

An alternative is to book with Trade Wings Ltd who can meet you and take you by car to your accommodation.
The simplest way to book a car with Trade Wings Ltd, India, is to email to oshotradewings@gmail.com or use their WhatsApp no.+91-9372020385/+919822006123.
